Need some extra information on our challenge? Check out our FAQs below as your questions will most likely be answered. However, if you need to contact us for something more complex, feel free to contact our friendly team here.
What if I want to do more than one activity?
No problems. Just sign up for the activity you would say is your ‘primary’ activity and do that. Everything else is a bonus.
What’s a virtual check point and how do I check in to it?
It’s basically a button you have to click on in the weekly emails we’ll send. One click, and we know you’re all checked in, and you qualify for that week’s prize draw.
What if I miss a week? Do I get disqualified?
Nope, doesn’t matter. Just check in whenever you can to go into that week’s prize draw and if you’ve signed up for it, you’ll get your bling at the end.
Are there different medals for the different activities or distances?
It’s the same medal for everyone. You’ll know which one you did. That’s the important bit.
Can I buy Winter Challenge merch even if I don’t sign up for the challenge?
You can buy Winter Challenge merch any time you like. Just click hereand away you go.
Can I sign up even if the challenge has already started?
It’s no big deal if you missed the start and want to get in on it a bit later. As long as you’re signed up by the end of June, you can still earn your bling and be good to go.
How and when are prizes drawn?
Prizes are drawn at random, based on that week’s check-ins. Everyone who clicks on the virtual checkpoint by 5pm Wednesday is automatically entered into that weeks prize draw and notified within 48 hours, with the winner public announced in the following week’s email. Missing a check in does not disqualify you from being in the following week’s draw. So if you miss one, don’t panic, if you check in next week, you’re back in that week’s prize draw.
How will choose the person that becomes an official ioMerino Outsider?
This is not a randomly drawn prize, it will be selected based on the person who we feel best demonstrates the qualities we look for in an official Outsider. These include, but are not limited to, someone who was already an ioMerino customer and someone who usually shares their adventures. Social media presence is a factor, but we look for enthusiasm and authenticity over quantity of followers. If you look at our current Outsiders you’ll see many of them have very modest social media followings! The ability to take a photo or write a few words that tell a story as part of that adventure sharing are also factors. If wearing your io is part of that story, then obviously we love that. But we never look for people who do it in an unnatural way just to score points with us. When someone runs in the wet or cold and says how comfortable they were in their io, because they think their friends and followers will find that relevant or useful, that’s more what we look for. We don’t want you to advertise us, we simply want to be a natural part of your adventures. Oh, and tagging us in posts is part of that as well. The truth is, there are no hard and fast rules, but these are the sorts of things we’ll be looking for. In fact, if we get to the end of the Winter Challenge and think more than one person meets those criteria, who knows, maybe we’ll pick two instead of one. It’s good to be flexible.

While Merino is an amazing natural fibre, not all Merino fabrics are created equal. At ioMerino, we make our own fabrics, using only the best quality fibres, and to very specific specifications that make the most of the natural benefits of Merino. All of them are 'Merino rich’. No cheap blends passed off as Merino. No cheaper scratchy fibres or synthetic substitutes to save money. No unethical production. And each fabric is made for a specific purpose. So if you see something with a small amount of elastase or nylon added, you can be sure it absolutely needs to be there to enhance the natural stretch and durability.
It took every bit of our 140 years of experience in the wool industry to perfect our fabrics, but we think you’ll agree the end result was more than worth the effort.
