The Women's Altitude Crew Neck Base Layer is the perfect ‘go to’ thermal layer for just about any adventure and our all-time best seller.  It’s the perfect thermal layer for core warmth when you’re layering up, yet versatile enough to be worn on its own in milder conditions.

Tag-free, flatlock stitching and raglan sleeves to help eliminate chafe and maximize comfort, and drop back hem designed for tucking into your outer layers, or sitting over bottom layers, with no exposed cold spots when you're on the go. The thumb loops keep your hands warm and stop your sleeves riding and bunching under your arms when layering. This top is the perfect combination of performance, warmth and comfort.

Designed to be worn as a body tight ‘contact fit’ layer. Model wears size small.

Perfect for snow sports, cycling and running.

Made with 170gsm lightweight 96% superfine Australian Merino and 4% Elastane MicroMerino® - for an easy four-way stretch and freedom of movement.

Ultra Trail Australia mandatory gear approved thermals.

THAT EXTRA LAYER TO KEEP ME WARM

I am always cold thus always had to add extra layers and would still be cold. Now I only need this or add a Mongrel over the top and I am set.

NICE COLOUR

I have this in the berry colour, the cut is nice so I often find myself wearing this by itself. It's good underneath other layers and the length of the shirt and sleeves, as well as the thumb holes means it doesn't get lost under other clothing.
A lot nicer that other thermal clothing I own.

LOVE THIS!

I bought this to see if it would work as a layering piece for a winter travel wardrobe. I'm happy to say it will definitely be packed in my bag.

Living in Tasmania, I buy/wear a lot of merino tops. This one has something extra. The addition of lycra makes it extra stretchy so it's more comfortable than some other brands, almost like a second skin. I'm confident it will hold it's shape.

Another distinguishing feature is the finish on the bottom. Instead of a hem, like most brands, this one is simply finished with overlocking. That means one less layer of fabric around the bottom, so if you want to tuck it into pants It will be a smooother appearance than most other merino thermals.

The length is perfect - just under the butt - for warmth and flattering coverage. Because of the lycra it stays put and doesn't ride up.

The thumb holes will be welcome in a Japanese winter, but they've been sewn in a way that the top can just as easily be worn without using them.

I can see more of these tops in my future. Well done ioMerino.

Perfection

Love the fit, quality of fabric (so soft), neckline, colour. I don't just wear it on chilly trail runs; it seems to be worn a lot in general! For a comfortable fit I sized up, only because I didn't want it to be skin tight/contact fit - I don't wear it as a thermal layer but a running top.

Fabric Guide

While Merino is an amazing natural fibre, not all Merino fabrics are created equal. At ioMerino, we make our own fabrics, using only the best quality fibres, and to very specific specifications that make the most of the natural benefits of Merino. All of them are 'Merino rich’. No cheap blends passed off as Merino. No cheaper scratchy fibres or synthetic substitutes to save money. No unethical production. And each fabric is made for a specific purpose. So if you see something with a small amount of elastase or nylon added, you can be sure it absolutely needs to be there to enhance the natural stretch and durability.

It took every bit of our 140 years of experience in the wool industry to perfect our fabrics, but we think you’ll agree the end result was more than worth the effort.

Ethically Made. Ethically Sourced. Perfectly Natural.
