Let's Go!

Our Merino Wool thermal layers have travelled all around the world. Literally. From Antarctica to Indonesia, the Swiss Alps to New Zealand waterfalls, Death Valley to Kilimanjaro, you name it and we've probably been there keeping you warm. Merino Wool is the perfect travel companion, so wherever you're travelling, whatever you're doing, we've got the perfect Merino wool thermal for you. Find out why you need to pack your Merino for your next adventure.

Why Merino?

It's a fair question, especially if you've never tried Merino before! For those of you who have, you can probably skip this section as you're no doubt already familiar with how incredible it really is. And for those of you who haven't, here's the basic 101:

  1. Odour-resistant.  Wear your Merino for days at a time without washing as it's stink-free!
  2. Temperature regulating. Merino will see you through a wide range of temperatures keeping you warm when it's cold and cool when it's warm (if you're going on one of those trips where you're expecting to see a range of temperatures in a couple of days/weeks/months, then you should definitely pack some Merino).
  3. Merino, well at least our Merino, is incredibly lightweight and easy to throw in your pack - a men's XL Base Layer fits into a ziplock bag! So you can pack light and still have everything you need.

Makes sense? Now, which layers to take.

The Sidekicks

While these accessories aren't going to keep you protected from the elements on their own (they'll give it a good crack!), they're the foundation of effective performance layering. There's no point spending money on high-performance clothes to stay warm and comfortable if you're wearing regular undies and socks. So don't forget to start with the basics next time you're on the go, you'll be surprised by how good they are. We've got Socks, Underwear, Beanies and Neck Warmers.

Universal Comfort

One of our Outsiders, Sputnik recently wrote an article about why he thinks this is the greatest T-Shirt ever, which you can check out here, but it's true - this really is the greatest T-Shirt ever! It's made with 83% superfine Australian Merino Wool and is incredibly lightweight, soft and stink-free to take you through a range of temperatures and activities. Whether you're checking out the local trails, hiking a mountain, cycling around a new city or even on a long haul flight, you'll stay warm and comfortable in one of these.

And for those of you who're heading somewhere cold, you might opt for the Universal Long Sleeve. With the same natural comfort and performance as the Tee, but just with sleeves for extra warmth when you need it the most, you really can't go wrong. Wear with extra layers when the weather kicks in or on its own in milder conditions.

The best of the best.

Many of you might already know how awesome our Tracksuit Pants are, but if you'd like the full rundown on why ours are better than the rest, click here. And for those of you who'd like the quick version, keep reading. There's sweaty, stinky, synthetic warmth that makes you feel all clammy and yuck when you start to overheat, and then there's the kind of warmth that's not that - and that's our Tracksuit Pants and Freedom Range. Made with 100% superfine Merino Wool, these generate an awesome, comfortable and 'clean' warmth that insulates you through all sorts of temperatures - so they keep you warm when it’s cold and keep you comfortable when it warms up. Perfect for all kinds of travelling, all kinds of adventures, for before and after adventures, and even when you're on the couch in front of the heater. Check out our men's and women's range here.

The Pinnacle

And last, but certainly not least, is the Pinnacle Mid Layer. As one of our warmer layers, you'll definitely want to pack one of these if you're heading somewhere cold. Since we launched the new improved version, it's quickly become one of our best sellers, and all for good reason of course. Much like all of our products, it was designed to offer maximum warmth and performance in a relatively lightweight garment without any bulk. So all you have to do is choose your colour, choose your adventure and you're ready to go!

Any questions?

As always, our ioTeam are pretty helpful when it comes to answering questions, so if you have any that aren’t too difficult, send us an email anytime and we’ll get straight back to you. (Unless we’re out on an adventure of our own, in which case you may need to be a teeny bit more patient!).
