I primarily wear tights to help support a knee issue, plus the benefits of compression are real, most of my tights are spandex / lycra (shiny) or polyamide / elastane which is cloth-like.
I needed something warmer, but not "long-john's" because I don't wear baggies or shorts over them. I use an inner comp short. Finished Wool tights for guys are hard to find.. most are made like underwear.
Be very carefully putting these on, I tore mine in the calf area, however I was able to repair it.
Since we are having a mild winter, I have had these out for my morning 6 mile trail runs in 33 - 37 degrees and felt comfortable in them. They handle the sweat by pulling it away and evaporating, even better than my polyamide Ruhn tights and it doesn’t soak it up like spandex or lycra. I recently ran them 25 miles in the forest with a temp range of 35 - 50 and I hardly noticed they were there. Did not have to adjust or pull them up, they just become part of you. Compression is just right, not rubber band like 2XU, and not flat like UA. For hard climbs and steep descents and everything in between I was impressed with the fit and performance.
My issues are:
The waist band - Even though it wasn't a real problem, it just doesn't look finished, it should look like outer-wear.
No pockets- An outside patch pocket or inner key pocket would be great.
Overall:
My goal was warmth and compression and these IO hit the mark. Aside from minor details, they are great performance wear for a relatively light garment.
I am a lot rougher on my other tights and never had a tear or problem, so the durability is in question. Since there is little or no competition in this category: Mens Wool compression tights, Im inclined to give them 5 stars.
