'Unkle' Lee is a pretty awesome downhill skateboarder, but during winter on his home turf in Canada, you'll likely find him backcountry skiing and snowboarding in the BC Mountains. And as you'll see by his recent adventures in the desert, his love of ioMerino goes way beyond the slopes.
For his most recent trip, Lee traded in his boards for hiking boots to visit his family in Palm Desert, California.
“Remember Canada is pretty dark in the winter because we are so far north of the equator and our seasons are strong. After a short 3hr flight from Vancouver to Palm Springs you can say bye to the snow and hello to the dry desert. My family and I love hiking the hills of the Coachella Valley. My parents starting a hiking club 10 years ago, they just can't get enough. For a hike I choose my ioMerino keystone Tshirt and Altitude boxers because I find they regulates temperature the best, and are odor resistant" Lee explained.
"So when things get hot in the desert, often 40C/104f, the best way to control my temperature, odour, moisture and skin damage is by wearing my ioMerino. I would never do a trip without out it! Thanks ioMerino for making such high quality garments I can wear with pride.”
As you can see, while some people think merino layers are only good for keeping you warm when it's cold, they're much, much more versatile than that.

Here in Australia, we call them 'Tracky Dacks' and our natural merino track pants are your beauty bottle. Find out what that means and why our 100% Merino Tracksuit Pants are better than the rest.
While Merino is an amazing natural fibre, not all Merino fabrics are created equal. At ioMerino, we make our own fabrics, using only the best quality fibres, and to very specific specifications that make the most of the natural benefits of Merino. All of them are 'Merino rich’. No cheap blends passed off as Merino. No cheaper scratchy fibres or synthetic substitutes to save money. No unethical production. And each fabric is made for a specific purpose. So if you see something with a small amount of elastase or nylon added, you can be sure it absolutely needs to be there to enhance the natural stretch and durability.
It took every bit of our 140 years of experience in the wool industry to perfect our fabrics, but we think you’ll agree the end result was more than worth the effort.
