Designed with ultra runners in mind the Men's Ultra Crew is as soft and comfortable as ever. Using our new core-spun fabric which combines all the natural benefits of our finest MicroMerino® fabrics with just enough nylon to create our most durable fabric yet, designed to withstand even the most demanding adventures.

Tag-free labels and flatlock stitching helps eliminate chafe and maximize comfort. Thumb loops keep your hands warm and stop your sleeves riding. Reflective trims have been added for extra safety in low light.

Why you’d buy this: You want something with a sporty fit, probably for running or some other sporty type activity - that bit’s up to you. You want a top that’s natural and merino rich (this one’s 83%) but a bit more durable to resist snags and wear.

As with all our clothes, the merino delivers natural temperature regulation, breathability, moisture wicking and odour resistance.

A warmer weather shirt

I needed a wool shirt for the warmer weather and this meets the needs. As the weather got warm here in the Colorado Rocky mountains, able to wear alone, or made a nice base as the temps dropped. And the blend makes it appear more durable.

Snug, well-made versatile layer for running, hiking or staying warm in winter

I bought this long-sleeve top for a couple of purposes, for which it performs well: running on cold winter's mornings (excellent snug fit and useful thumb holes); and as a base layer for staying warm during the day in winter, when working from home in an unheated house. It's terrific at both. The quality of design and construction is first rate. The fit is on the longer side, top to bottom, and on the narrow side across chest and waist. That suits my needs perfectly, but you might want to size up if you want a looser fit. I'm in a medium, and my dimensions are H: 175cm W: 70kg. It's not super tight on me, and I'm very happy with the size choice and fit.

The Ultra Crew is a terrific garment. As soon I took it out of the package you can see the excellent quality of the material and the stitching. I have tried it on a few runs on some colder days and I was not disappointed. Not once did I feel cold and as the run progressed I did not overheat either. The garment is very well cut, true to size and did not cause any rubbing. I definitely would recommend for others to purchase. I would also like to see ioMerino make some running shorts, I think this is one key item missing from their product range.

Only used a couple of times but it’s great. Comfortable fit keeps me warmer than a t shirt and the thumb holes help keep fingers warmer on frigid hills mornings. Time will tell for durability. Love the colour (mint I think)

Comfortable and fit for purpose

I recently purchased the Ultra crew neck, to go running on cold mornings, and it been great. I love knowing that I am wearing a natural merino wool product, that is owned by and Australian family.
I look forward to many years of use.

Perfect, exactly what I needed

Purchased to use for commute walking (5km each way). It’s been sensational, comfortable, fits well, washes well, breathes amazingly well with excellent moisture wicking. Feels warm enough on cold mornings and also cool enough on warmer days. Would buy again, never going back to cotton shirts.

Does it have a UVF rating for sun protection and what is the weight? I am a self supported multi day ultra runner so long periods each day in use and of course weight is critical seeing I have ti carry everything for 5/7 days. Thanks. Shane. Brisbane.

UV rating - Merino wool clothing provides good protection from the sun as it absorbs UV radiation providing protection. While we don't have a specific UPF rating, the scientific information from AWI (Australia Wool Intervation wool.com) and the Woolmark Company (woolmark.com) is that Merino wool has an approximate 30+ UV protection. Merino wool clothing is the clear winner for sun protection in the race against other fabrics and fibres, for example, synthetics and cotton have about a 5 UV protection rating.
The UV protection on our products will also depend on the weight and construction of the garment. The mid to heavy weight products will provide more protection than our thinner/light weight items like this Ultra crew.
Weight - the fabric is a 160gsm (grams per square metre). The Ultra crew has about 1.1m of fabric per garment (excluding lightweight trims like size labels, thread etc) so will weight approx 180 grams.
