Andrew - ioMerino Outsider

Expedition Doctor and Adventure Photographer. Australia.

“As an outdoor adventure photographer, I need to stay fit to keep up with the demands of my job. I swim, paddle and mountain bike when I’m home in South East Queensland but spend a lot of time hiking and rock climbing when on the road in places like the US.”

Andrew works as an expedition Doctor in remote areas and on expeditions. It was here that he first began seriously pursuing photography when he was on voluntary assignment in the mountains of Nepal and India. Inspired by the wonderful images and technical mastery of outdoor adventure photographer Galen Rowell and encouraged by having a photo published in a US climbing magazine, he began photographing in earnest while using his skills as a doctor and climber to find ways to explore new corners of the globe.

Favourite Gear:

Altitude Zip:"A superb product and I wore it all the time on my recent trip working on the Antarctic Peninsula. A zip is a super useful feature on a long sleeve top for regulating heat loss while being active in cold environments and one that I always look for when buying".

Fabric Guide

While Merino is an amazing natural fibre, not all Merino fabrics are created equal. At ioMerino, we make our own fabrics, using only the best quality fibres, and to very specific specifications that make the most of the natural benefits of Merino. All of them are 'Merino rich’. No cheap blends passed off as Merino. No cheaper scratchy fibres or synthetic substitutes to save money. No unethical production. And each fabric is made for a specific purpose. So if you see something with a small amount of elastase or nylon added, you can be sure it absolutely needs to be there to enhance the natural stretch and durability.

It took every bit of our 140 years of experience in the wool industry to perfect our fabrics, but we think you’ll agree the end result was more than worth the effort.

Ethically Made. Ethically Sourced. Perfectly Natural.
