Summer of Kayaking in Denmark

By ioMerino Outsider Jens

"What a summer! I've been kayaking along the coast of Zealand - the largest island of Denmark. Clearwater and a lot of sun - and due to a historically warm summer in Denmark, our biggest concern was the sun. From our self-made kayaks, or baidarkas, we experienced the beautiful nature and small towns along the coast.

Our red cap looks and feels like a regular cap, but delivers the thermo-regulating ‘insulation’ qualities of our merino wool garments!

I have also been working this summer, and luckily my work is outside and takes place in the beautiful scenery in the Norwegian mountains. Two times this summer, I've had the pleasure of guiding people around in Jotunheimen, a national park with over 80 mountains. An 8-day roundtrip with no re-supplying and every night in a tent. Most of the participants didn't have any experience with long hikes, and it was a pleasure to be the one who introduced the people to both the nature of Norway and how to "survive" on a long hiking trip. The purpose of the trips was also to fish in the streams and high-altitude lakes, and we caught a lot of small trout."
