If you’re not a boxer guy, or a brief guy, these trunks sit quite nicely in the middle thanks very much. Made from our ultra comfy Merino+ fabric, (it’s the same epic fabric we use in our Ultra range of tops!), they deliver all the comfort and performance you’ve come to expect from our premium merino fabrics, but in a more streamlined fit. They're a bit more snug than our Altitude Boxers, with a little more coverage than our briefs, They fit true to size, but if you’re coming across from our Altitude Boxers you may want to size up.

Tag-free labels, flatlock stitching and a flexible, ultra-soft ioMerino elasticated waistband help eliminate chafe and bulk and maximize comfort. Say goodbye to ordinary undies, and go with Men's Ultra Merino Trunks.

SIZE & FIT

True to size - but if you’re a fan of our existing Altitude boxers you may want to size up.

Model wears size small in black and chilli pepper. Model specs - height 173, chest 99cm, waist 76cm.

Model wears size medium in dazzling blue and navy. Model specs - height 181cm, chest 103cm, waist 81cm (32 inch).

Designed to fit perfectly under our other layers, they are a firmer fitting, active style, with less fabric in the legs and crotch.

Io merino trunks

Wear everyday glad I bought a 3 pack I don’t like wearing cotton I’m 100% Soft Merino Wool with Stride tracks and ultra trunks I’m very comfortable expensive at &40-$50 the price of satisfying comfort I guess i do like like sweaty polyester underwear cheap underwear is no pleasure for a PTSD Head who sweats 3-3 seasons each year in Queensland I really appreciate IO Merino products I’ve been buying it for years

I bought these for my husband, who is about to hike the Camino. He loves them! They wear, wash and dry really well.

Well made. Merino..no funk. Comfortable.These are good.

Turns out I don't have enough junk in my trunks

I like the material, and the idea of being halfway between boxers, which i typically find feel weird under pants and brief's which are my go too sounded good. I have just found that the trunks tend to ride up the leg and turn into brief's that just have a big roll of material in the inseam.
I will continue to wear, but after a week of use not love, love, loving them.
I might try some boxers and see how they go.

not the right fit

I chose these over the Altitude style because of the blend - thought the 12% nylon would make for a longer lasting material. However, the fit is not right for me; they fit too low on the hips.
I've a 34inch waist and bought a Large.

Great undies

ioMerino trunks and boxers are just the best. People think that wool undies would be so uncomfortable, but nothing could be further from the truth. Silky smooth fine wool, not in the least pickly, stink resistant, so comfy. If marooned in the jungle for a week, these are the undies I would want to be wearing. And ioMerino is so helpful/cooperative if you find you have messed up your order. Highly recommend.

Very comfortable

My favourite underwear after trying a lot of brands and styles (I have tried the ioMerino Briefs but not the Boxers, if that helps). Very comfortable, the right support for me, and I like the vibrant colours too.
Note I wear size 32 pants and Medium shirts but I found size XL was the best fit for my body and preference. I suggest buying one at a time until you are happy with the fit (and then buying a bundle or two!).

Unfortunately too "ultra"

I normally wear a size M. I wear the boxer shorts from iO (size M) often and very happily. I should probably have chosen a size larger for this model. The quality is top but in my case unfortunately not stretchy enough and therefore too uncomfortable for everyday wear.

Very comfy, fits well. Prompt delivery. I’m a total merino guy.

Ultra Happy

I have found the Ultra Trunks to be very soft, supportive and comfy. The sizing is accurate. Perfect for my bushwalks. I just about live in merino.

the best trunks on the market

being an avid supporter of the merino industry and io merino product i purchased 3 pairs of the mens trunks about 12 months ago- it was not long before i dreaded wearing the cotton brands i was wearing prior to that. I then purchased enough IO mens trunks to ensure i had 100% comfort 100% of the time.
