Let’s be honest, usually even the crappiest track pants are fairly good. The Track Pant Police simply wouldn’t allow it if they weren’t at least a little bit comfortable. But there’s ‘Yeah, they’re OK’ comfortable, and ‘Holy Cow these might just be the best track pants I’ve ever worn’ comfortable. So we created ‘The Tracky Dack Challenge’ so you could put your track pants to the test and see how they measure up. (And find out why ours are in the ‘Holy Cow’ category. Or should that be ‘Holy Sheep’?).
First up is how your track pants feel. Obviously. You want something so soft it feels like it’s made of clouds. Ever wondered why the shape of sheep and the shape of clouds is kind of similar? Exactly. Ours are made from one of the finest, softest Merino wool fabrics on the planet, so they’re soft like clouds. No one else uses this MicroMerino® fabric because it’s unique to us. Touch them, and you’ll know what we mean. If yours aren’t as soft as clouds, it’s time you got a nice case of The Feels.
Don’t wear plastic. Seriously. Just don’t do it. If you’re having a sports drink, Merino wool doesn’t make a great container, plastic is better. If you’re popping a cheeky macaroni cheese microwave meal in the microwave, Merino wool doesn’t make a great container either. Plastic is better. So synthetic, which is basically fancy plastic, is better for some things, but track pants isn’t one of those things. Don’t wrap yourself in plastic. Keep your track pants natural and enjoy a nice ‘clean’ warmth. If you love the outdoors, and love nature, but your track pants aren’t also natural… *Buzzer Sound Effect*.
There’s sweaty, stinky, synthetic warmth that makes you feel all clammy and yuck when you start to overheat, and then there’s the kind of warm that’s not that. The unique MicroMerino® fabric we use in our Track Pants was developed by us, using more than 100 years of know-how, and generates an awesome, comfortable, ‘clean’ warmth that insulates you through all sorts of temperatures. When it’s cold, they’ll keep you toasty warm, but when you warm up, they’ll stop you sweating up a storm and the natural breathability and temperature regulation will keep you comfortable across a wider range of temperatures. Perfect for when you’re on adventures. Or on the couch in front of the heater. How do yours perform across a range of temperatures? Do they pass the test? Or is it time you found out why people rave about ours?
For those of you who aren’t from the great land Down Under (i.e. Australia), this is your chance for a few quick language lessons. ‘Tracky Dacks’ is Australian for ‘Track Pants’. And if you’re looking for a phrase to describe how good our Tracky Dacks really are, you can go with ‘They’re you-beaut, bonzer bottler tracky dacks”. Is that the truth? Bloody oath. These will be your own little piece of Australia, and you’ve got Buckley’s Chance of finding better ones.
Ever wondered why we quite often refer to our merino outdoor clothing as ‘layers’ or ‘base layers’ rather than just calling them ‘clothes’. Maybe it’s time we explained why.
While Merino is an amazing natural fibre, not all Merino fabrics are created equal. At ioMerino, we make our own fabrics, using only the best quality fibres, and to very specific specifications that make the most of the natural benefits of Merino. All of them are 'Merino rich’. No cheap blends passed off as Merino. No cheaper scratchy fibres or synthetic substitutes to save money. No unethical production. And each fabric is made for a specific purpose. So if you see something with a small amount of elastase or nylon added, you can be sure it absolutely needs to be there to enhance the natural stretch and durability.
It took every bit of our 140 years of experience in the wool industry to perfect our fabrics, but we think you’ll agree the end result was more than worth the effort.
