We called this the Stripey range, because, ah, obviously. Then we gave it its very own section because even though it’s made from the same super comfortable fabric as the rest of the Altitude range, when we make the stripey fabric it fits and feels a stripey bit different. Still soft, still comfortable, still true-ish to size, but if you’re used to our other Altitude tops, this one will feel about half a size smaller. Up to you whether you go up a size based on how you want it to fit and feel.

What’s not different is everything else. It’s still designed to fit close to your body for maximum performance. Tight but soft, with plenty of give for extra comfort. The Altitude 'Stripey' Zip is the ‘go to’ thermal layer for just about any adventure and our all-time best seller. It’s the perfect thermal layer for core warmth when you’re layering up, yet versatile enough to be worn on its own in milder conditions.

Tag-free, flatlock stitching and raglan sleeves help eliminate chafe and maximise comfort. The drop back hem and extra body length is designed for tucking into your outer layers. Thumb loops keep your hands warm and stop your sleeves riding up when layering.

This top is the perfect combination of performance, warmth and comfort.

Originally designed to be worn as a base layer, (is usually underneath something else), this is a ‘contact fit’ layer so will hug your body. If you don’t want it to fit, feel or look like a second skin, you might try another style.

Altitude Stripey Zip XXL

The stripey top looks good with pink zip/stitching contrast and really good quality, non scratchy merino. I’m usually a size 16 and I ordered the XXL based on reviews advice. It fits but is still very very snug. I could have gone up another size, eek!

Comfy, warm, fit & looks great

With the Altitude being a Base Layer and having a Contact Fit, it can feel quite clingy, so upsizing can absolutely help if you want a bit less of that.

Great fit and love the stripes!

It's just a tiny bit scratchy, but once you've had it on for awhile, it's not noticeable. The fit was exactly as described. First wear was in pouring rain under a not-so-weatherproof jacket - the breathability was perfect. No photos - too wet!

My favourite running top for winter

Perfect weight for running in chilly winter mornings. Fits quite neatly but that’s fine for me. Looks great too - I feel super smart when I’m wearing it.

Absolutely love this lightweight easy to wear top. Looks great with sporty gear and jeans. Stripes look fresh and smart I bought the XL and can wear t shirt underneath.

I purchased my stripey altitude for a recent walking trip and it lived up to every expectation I had. Warm, dry, soft, comfy and no pong - even after two solid days wear. Love the fun colour combo too. I’d recommend sizing up as it isn’t overly long in the body, otherwise perfect!

Altitude with Attitude

This was a gift for my wife's birthday and she loves it. In fact it is the second Altitude piece she has and she wears them all the time. The Stripey though is the favourite.

Love this top!!

A lovely top to wear, suitably warm for cold mornings but not too hot. Definitely on the smaller side size wise. I am size 10 and the medium is fairly snug.

New Favorite Top

I've been wanting this for a couple years and finally decided to buy it. I went up a size for a little extra room, but it is still wicks well. The collar is high and when zipped up isn't too tight but still keeps drafts out. The zipper is long enough to provide good venting. The body is long so no problem with it coming untucked. The only thing that I don't like is the forearms are pretty tight so I can't push it up very far to vent, which I like to do sometimes. I got the striped top with the contrasting red stiching and it rocks! I've been wearing it as an inner layer for late winter/early spring biking, and also just around the house because I like it so much.

Altitude for Altitude

I love this top for a base layer, the zip done up all the way to the top acts as a neck warmer. - who doesn't love a stripe top

Beautiful and fantastic quality

I bought both the Thyme and Stripe coloured Altitude Zips for fastpacking and ultramarathons, and they are gorgeous. Only point to note is that the stripey one feels much firmer, I think due to the print; I suspect it may soften in the wash. I usually wear S or 10 on top, and XS on bottom, and the small size Thyme top is perfect or even a touch loose, whilst the Stripe is rather firm, tight around collar and thumb loop. I'll stick with this size, but if you prefer to have things a touch looser keep this in mind when ordering the Stripe variant.

Is the white color in the stripe more white or cream color? It's hard to tell from photos and I am not fan of yellowy/cream color. thanks.
