Say No to Micro Plastics

We all know plastic is a problem. Single use plastic. Plastic bottles. Plastic bags. And plastic clothes. You may not call them ‘plastic’, but those synthetic clothes - polyester etc - contribute up to 35% of microplastics polluting the oceans.

According to The Guardian, "a single clothes wash may release 700,000 micro plastic fibres”. Even one of our fellow outdoor clothing companies concedes a "single wash of a synthetic fleece jacket releases on average 1.7g of microfibres.” These micro quantities of plastic form part of an estimated 12 million tonnes of plastic that enter the sea every year.

One thing you can do to avoid contributing to this problem is choose natural fibres and wash them less. That’s why both you, and the oceans, are better off when you go with natural, breathable, odour resistant io.

go with io.
